Period lasting 2 weeks?

i am 37 and have had a period that is lasting 2 weeks. i am not on birth control(husband has had a vasectomy) and have two children. usually my periods last 5-7 days. this has not happened before although i am usually irregular as far as when it starts. i know i need to go to the doc but what other info is out there? thank you
