A Midlife Dilemma:Richard and Kristine consider themselves lucky. They are in their fifties, in good health, a?
I would recommend maybe a live in nurse or a caretaker that can come by on a daily basis to the ailing parents' homes. Then I would suggest an honest discussion with the parents about why neither a nursing home or living with them are not options. They are adults and will understand. They surely do not want their failing health to be a reason why their child feels obligated to take them in and care for them nor do they want to be resented for being a burden once they're there. If possible a mediator of some type would probably be helpful, maybe a minister if they attend church, or a therapist.
